I entered last year. Can I be nominated for or enter again?

Yes, you can enter or be nominated for the same award again this year unless you were the winner. Just make sure that the application is updated to adhere to any of the guidelines. NB The Game Changer Award is specific to innovative/transformative work that are current over the past 24 months.

If you were the winner last year, you can’t be nominated for or enter the same award again this year but you can apply for one of the other awards.

 

 

I was shortlisted last year. Can I be nominated for or enter again?

Yes, you can be nominated for or enter that same award again this year making sure the application adheres to the guidelines of each award. 

 

 

Can I apply for or be nominated for more than one award?

Yes. You’re welcome to enter or be nominated for awards concurrently. 

 

 

I’m an Early Mid-Career Researcher (EMCR). What awards are most applicable to me?

The ACvA Excellence in Cardiovascular Research Awards are inclusive regardless of career stage and you are welcome to apply for any award that you are eligible for. EMCRs are strongly encouraged to apply for the Game Changer award, with its focus on current work and innovation.

 

 

Can an application be made as a team?

Yes, the Game Changer and Translation Awards can be applied as a team. However, one person must be nominated as the primary contact on the application.

 

 

Can I self-nominate?

You can self-nominate for the Game Changer and Translation Awards.

You can NOT self-nominate for the Mentor Award. 

 

 

I’m not an ACvA member. Can I still apply?

Yes. You can apply to any of the Awards. However, we encourage you to become a member, so that you can benefit from other networks, programs and opportunities facilitated by the ACvA.  If you’d like to become an ACvA member, annual membership is $55. I’m not an Australian citizen. Can I still apply?

Yes. However, the majority of the program of work/research which you’re applying for needs to have taken place in Australia. 

 

 

I’ve applied. What happens next?

Our judging panel will look at your application. We anticipate that they will finalise a shortlist for each Award late 2023. If you aren’t shortlisted, you’ll get an email regarding this outcome. Shortlisted applicants will also be contacted before we officially announce them at the Awards ceremony. The Awards will be held in Melbourne February 2024, and everyone is welcome to attend.
